Meet the Meerkats in Makgadikgadi Pans

Spend time with the meerkats – the cool cats of the Kalahari. These habituated meerkats like nothing better than to use your head as a lookout point to make you feel you’re part of the gang. Your guide will escort you to the most endearing creatures in the whole of Africa, which can only be found in this part of the Kalahari. Let them climb over you, enjoy seeing them interact and learn about their loving, tight social hierarchy. The meerkats see humans every day, so they aren’t shy at all. This early-morning visit consists of a 1 to 2-hour walk while you interact with the habituated mobs. However, the entire excursion – including the travel to and from the remote pans and finding them – usually takes 4 hours. A truly incredible and humbling experience!
